This Refund Policy explains how cancellations, refunds, and our money-back guarantee work for services purchased from Redwood Publishing Press. It should be read with our Terms and Conditions.
We want authors to feel confident hiring us. Refunds are available in clear situations. They are not available simply because a book did not sell, a retailer delayed a listing, or you changed your mind after work was delivered and approved.
1. How to Request a Refund
Email info@redwoodpublishingpress.com or call +1 332 587 1145 with:
- Your full name and order or invoice number
- The service purchased
- The reason for the request
- Any supporting files or screenshots
We review requests within 5 business days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method when the processor allows it. Bank and card posting times are outside our control and may take 5–10 additional business days.
2. Cooling-Off Period
If you cancel before we begin work and within 5 days of payment, you may receive a full refund of the unused service fee, minus any non-refundable third-party costs already paid on your behalf.
“Work begun” includes manuscript review, editorial assessment, cover concepts, formatting setup, account setup, ads setup, or assigning a specialist to your project.
3. After Work Has Started
If you cancel after work has started but before final delivery:
- We calculate the percentage of work completed.
- You are charged for completed work and any third-party costs.
- The unused balance may be refunded.
- If completed work exceeds the amount paid, no refund is due and remaining invoices stay payable.
Completed work already sent to you, such as edited chapters or cover drafts, remains subject to the license terms in your package. Unpaid deliverables stay our property until the related invoice is paid.
4. After Final Delivery or Approval
Once you approve proofs, accept final files, or we complete the listed deliverables, the service fee is non-refundable. Publishing is a custom professional service. Digital files, editorial labor, and design time cannot be returned in unused condition.
5. Money-Back Guarantee
Our money-back guarantee applies when we fail to deliver the core purchased service for reasons within our control. You may qualify if:
- We miss a written deadline by more than 14 days without an agreed extension, and the delay is not caused by late files, late feedback, or third-party platforms
- We cannot complete the purchased service and no reasonable substitute is offered
- The delivered work is substantially different from the paid package and we do not correct it after a documented revision request
The guarantee does not cover subjective taste (for example, disliking a cover style after approving the brief), sales performance, review counts, Amazon ranking, or platform policy changes.
To claim the guarantee, write to us within 14 days of the missed deadline or delivery date and allow us one opportunity to cure the issue before a refund is issued.
6. Non-Refundable Items
The following are not refundable once purchased or spent:
- ISBN, barcode, copyright registration, or similar filing fees
- Print proofs, bulk printing, shipping, and warehousing
- Paid advertising, boosted posts, and media spend already launched
- Rush fees after rush work has started
- Third-party platform fees, distribution fees, and retailer charges
- Services already marked complete and approved by you
7. Partial Packages
If your order includes several services (for example, editing plus cover design plus marketing), a refund may apply only to the unfinished portion. Finished portions stay payable.
8. Chargebacks
Please contact us before filing a card dispute. If a chargeback is opened, we may pause work and provide the processor with the order record, files delivered, and these policies. Invalid chargebacks do not cancel amounts owed. Repeated or abusive disputes may result in refusal of future service.
9. Quality Concerns
If you believe an edit, design, or formatting file has a genuine quality issue:
- Send a written list of problems within 7 days of delivery.
- We will review and, if the issue is valid, correct it within the remaining revision rounds or one additional courtesy round.
- A refund is considered only if we cannot reasonably correct the issue.
Preference changes, new chapters added after editing, or errors introduced by later author edits are not quality defects in the original delivery.
10. Printing and Shipping
Print-on-demand and offset printing are produced by third-party printers. Refunds for damaged, lost, or incorrect print orders follow the printer’s policy. We will help you file the claim. Color and paper variation within normal print tolerances are not defects.
11. Marketing Services
Marketing packages cover the activities described in your invoice, such as campaign setup, listing optimization, or outreach. They do not guarantee a number of sales, downloads, or reviews. Ad budgets paid to platforms are spent on your behalf and are not refundable after the ads run.
12. Cancellations by Us
We may cancel a project if the content is unlawful, the files were not authorized by the rights holder, required information is not provided after repeated requests, or we cannot complete the work. In those cases, we refund any unused prepaid balance after deducting work already performed and non-refundable costs.
13. How Refunds Are Paid
- Refunds go back to the original payment method when possible.
- If that method is unavailable, we may issue another agreed method.
- Processing fees charged by banks or card networks may be deducted if they cannot be recovered.
