These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Redwood Publishing Press website and the publishing, editing, design, printing, and marketing services we provide. By submitting a quote request, making a payment, or using this website, you agree to these Terms.
Please also read our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use our services.
1. About These Terms
Redwood Publishing Press (“Company,” “we,” “us”) is a United States publishing services provider located at 1280 Madison Ave Unit # 312, New York, NY 10128. These Terms form a binding agreement between you (“Author,” “Client,” or “you”) and the Company.
A separate written proposal, invoice, or service agreement may add project-specific details. If there is a conflict, the signed service agreement or paid invoice controls for that project.
2. Services We Provide
Depending on the package you purchase, services may include:
- Book editing and proofreading
- Book cover design and interior formatting
- Paperback, hardcover, and print-on-demand setup
- eBook conversion and distribution
- Comic book, children’s book, and poetry publishing support
- Book marketing, launch support, and related consulting
We provide professional publishing services. We do not guarantee bestseller status, a specific number of sales, reviews, or rankings on Amazon or any other platform. Marketing results depend on genre, budget, competition, and audience response.
3. Quotes and Orders
- Quotes are estimates based on the information you provide, including word count, genre, and requested services.
- A project starts after you accept the quote and we receive the required payment or deposit.
- If the manuscript, page count, or scope changes after work begins, we may revise the fee and timeline.
- Free consultations and quote requests do not create an obligation to buy.
4. Author Responsibilities
You agree that:
- You own the manuscript or have legal authority to publish it.
- The work does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
- The work is not unlawful, defamatory, or plagiarized.
- You will provide complete files, feedback, and approvals within the requested time.
- Information in forms, bios, and publishing metadata is accurate.
Delays in sending files or feedback may extend delivery dates. We are not responsible for missed launch dates caused by late author input.
5. Intellectual Property
Your manuscript
You retain copyright in your original manuscript, characters, and story. You grant us a limited license to copy, edit, format, design, print, upload, and market the work as needed to perform the purchased services.
Our materials
Our website content, process documents, templates, and internal tools remain our property. Original cover art, layout files, or marketing assets created for you are licensed or assigned according to your paid package. Until the project is paid in full, we retain rights in unpaid deliverables.
Third-party assets
Stock images, fonts, ISBNs, and platform accounts are subject to their own licenses. You are responsible for using them according to those licenses after delivery.
6. Editing, Proofs, and Approvals
- Editing and design include the number of revision rounds stated in your package.
- Additional revisions after included rounds may be billed separately.
- You must review proofs carefully. Once you approve a final file, further changes may require a new paid round.
- Print color, trim, and paper can vary slightly between printers and proof copies.
7. Publishing Platforms
If you ask us to upload your book to Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Apple Books, or similar platforms:
- You must provide accurate account access or authorize us to create listings in your name.
- Platform fees, royalties, tax forms, and account rules are between you and that platform.
- We do not take author royalties unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
- Platforms may reject, delay, or remove a title for reasons outside our control.
8. Payments
- Fees are quoted in United States dollars unless stated otherwise.
- Work may be paused if invoices are overdue.
- You are responsible for bank fees, currency conversion, and chargeback costs caused by an unauthorized or reversed payment that is later found valid.
- Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.
9. Timelines
Turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees, unless a written rush agreement says otherwise. Complex edits, illustrations, printing, and third-party reviews can extend the schedule. Urgent publishing is available only when confirmed in writing.
10. Acceptable Use of the Website
You may not:
- Use the site for unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent activity
- Upload malware or attempt to break site security
- Copy website content for commercial use without permission
- Submit another person’s work without authorization
11. Testimonials and Samples
If you send a review or allow us to display your book cover, we may use that material on our website and marketing unless you ask us in writing not to. We will not publish unpublished manuscript text as a sample without your permission.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
Services are provided on an “as available” basis. We work with professional care, but we do not warrant that:
- The website will be uninterrupted or error-free
- A book will be accepted by every retailer
- Editing will catch every possible error
- Marketing will produce a particular sales result
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Redwood Publishing Press is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost data, or lost publishing opportunities. Our total liability for a project is limited to the amount you paid us for that project in the three months before the claim.
This does not limit liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims arising from your manuscript, your platform accounts, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of another person’s rights.
15. Termination
Either party may stop a project according to the Refund Policy and any signed agreement. We may suspend service if you fail to pay, provide illegal content, or abuse our staff. After termination, licenses needed to complete unpaid work end, and you remain responsible for amounts already earned.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in New York, New York, have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
17. Changes
We may update these Terms. The new version applies to website use and new orders after the updated date. Existing paid projects remain subject to the Terms in effect when payment was made, unless both parties agree otherwise.
